Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels comprises die-cast toy cars. The name die-cast actually refers to the method used in making them. They were invented by Mattel in America in the year 1968. Initially, the toys were bought for children to play with but these days even adults purchase them. There has been major developments and various types have been launched. The first cars were designed on a 1:64 scale but later the design changed to 1:43 scale.

Many inventions have been made, Elliot Hander manufactured a range of die-cast toys for boys which was a major success. Mattel released nearly sixteen castings in 1968 of which eleven cars were designed by Marry Bentley Bradley. Other cars introduced are custom-built Volkswagen, Beatnik Bandit designed by Ed Roth, Custom Barracuda, Custom Camaro, Custom Corvette, Custom cougar, Custom Eldorado, Custom Firebird, Custom Fleet side, Custom Mustang, Custom T-Bird, Custom Volkswagen designed by Ira Gilford, Deora, Ford J-Car, Hot Heap, Python designed by Dean Jefferies and Silhouette.

The cars popularity has been changing. In 1969, Twin Mill was the best, it shifted to Sizzler the rechargeable car in 1970. In 1985, Torino Tornado car became the most popular. Hot Wheels were specialized in series in 1995, for example, Model series or First Edition, and the Treasure Hunt Series. After five years, they introduced a new brand which had exquisite paint jobs.

Hot Wheels range of toys include tracks, accessories, different kinds of vehicles and ‘Hot Bird’ airplane. Over 41 million children have collected these tires and an average collector has over 1,550 cars to his collection.
